I Compare Treatments, Not Clinics

Here's the distinction this whole site rests on, so you know within ten seconds whether it's any use to you.

I don't rank med spas. I don't score them, I don't hand out stars, and I'll never tell you that one place is better than another, because I'd be making it up. Bookkeeping is my day job, so what I do instead is put two treatments side by side, the way I'd line up two invoices, and work out which one actually fits the money, the calendar and the tolerance for downtime you've already got.

Botox or Dysport. Filler or a biostimulator. Plain microneedling or the radiofrequency version. Those are questions with real answers, or at least real trade-offs, and nobody selling you either one is well placed to lay them out flat.

Plain treatment room with a sheet-covered bed and folded grey blanket, a steel instrument cart, and a wall clock.

What's on here

Three sections, and they map onto the three things that actually stall a decision.

Treatment comparisons is the side-by-side half. Botox against Dysport, filler against a biostimulator, plain needling against the radiofrequency version, each run through the same rows so the trade-offs line up.

Maintenance schedules is the calendar half. How long an appointment really blocks out once you count the consult, the numbing and the wait. How often each thing needs repeating, and what a year of it adds up to.

Planning your first visit is the starting half. What to book first if the budget only stretches to one thing this year, how to get across to Hoboken and back on a weekday without burning a whole afternoon, and the mistakes that cost first-timers the most.

What I won't put on a page

No prices. Any number I published would be wrong within a season and would read as a quote from somewhere I have nothing to do with. I'll tell you how pricing is structured, which is the part that stays true.

No promises about your face. Skin varies, doses vary, and two people can walk out of identical appointments with different results. Where the honest answer is a range, you'll get a range.

No invented anything. No statistics I can't stand behind, no before-and-afters, no reviews of businesses. If I don't know, the page says I don't know.

Written from the hill

I live up on the Palisades, a few blocks off Bergenline Avenue, and that shapes what's useful here more than you'd guess.

Most of us are already choosing between a handful of towns rather than a single high street. Plenty of people walk the strip for the ordinary errands and then cross to Hoboken or the waterfront for anything medical, because the elevator down to the light rail makes that a genuinely short trip. So the timing pages are written around that reality instead of around a car and a suburban parking lot.

The other local habit worth copying: I check the National Weather Service before booking anything that leaves skin raw or sensitive. A cold snap, or a stretch of hard sun, shifts how skin settles afterwards. Costs nothing to look, and it occasionally saves you a wasted appointment.

And if you're reading this as a student or staff member up at Hudson County Community College, a lot of the budget thinking on this site started with exactly your question, which is what to do when the plan has to come in under a number that isn't negotiable.

Start where your blocker is

If money is what's stopping you, go to planning your first visit and read the small-budget page. It's the shortest route from "I can't afford this" to "I can afford one sensible thing."

If it's time, start with maintenance schedules. Most people overestimate the appointment and badly underestimate the year.

And if you've got the money and the time and you're still stuck between two options, read the matching page in treatment comparisons, write down four questions, and take them into a consultation.

Then ask them out loud. That's the part I can't do for you.

For a place to ask those questions without a long trip, there is an aesthetic clinic near Union City just down the hill in Hoboken, reachable on the light rail.
